Bird  Tree Sparows

Latin name: Passer montanus

Size: Approximately 13 to 14cms

Distribution: Found throughout the U.K. but rare in parts

Months seen: All year round

Food: Seeds

Habitat: Farmlands and woods

Special features: Numbers of tree sparrows have declined considerably in recent years. Where they can be found they are usually seen in flocks.

They differ from our other sparrow species in that they have chestnut coloured plumage on the tops of their heads.
