Latin name: Laetiporus sulphureus
Size: Each lobe can be up to 20cms wide and 5cms in depth.
Distribution: Found throughout the UK.
Months seen: May to November.
Habitat: Found on the trunks of oak and yew trees.
Special features: Sometimes called 'chicken of the woods' as it can be eaten when young. It is
orange-yellow with a light yellow edge which fades with age. Often seeps an
orange coloured juice.
