Distribution: Found mainly in England and Wales, scarce in Scotland and N. Ireland.
Months seen: June to October
Habitat: Ponds and lakes
Food: Flying invertebrates
Special features: Male southern hawkers have green markings with some blue markings on the last three segments of the abdomen. The females have all green markings. Juveniles have very pale markings which appear almost yellowish.
