Photographing Dolphins

In 2005 this lone, and very intelligent dolphin spent the winter just off Holy Island. He can often be seen going down to
Inner Farne to top up on fish dinners.
He loves to play a couple of metres off the port wake of our boat "Aquatrax" and has become quite friendly. I have just finished photographing him for the local Evening Chronicle newspaper.
He comes under the bow planes and then spurts water all over me and the camera gear. I'm
sure I saw him laughing underwater.
Photographing dolphins isn't easy at 50mph with the dolphin hitting 30 mph just for fun. You have to
encourage him by bringing the boat up to 20 mph. This gets him to play in the stern wake and then you stand a chance.
Watch where the dolphin surfaces in the wake and keep clicking the focus button on the wake. Keep your left eye open till you catch a glimpse, them press the shutter button all the way.
If you're using a disposable camera just keep your left eye open and click the shutter when the dolphin comes into view.
