Latin name: Adalia bipunctata
Size: Approximately 5mms long
Distribution: Found throughout the U.K.
Months seen: March to October
Food: Aphids
Habitat: Fields, parks, gardens and woods.
Special features: The two spot ladybird is a fairly common species
which is often found hibernating in houses during the winter months.
 Identification
of the 2-spot can be a bit tricky. Although some have red wing casings
with two small black spots (as above) there is a variation which has black
wing casings with red spots.
