Latin name: Apodemus flavicollis
Size: Head and body around 10cms, tail approximately 15cms.
Distribution: Found in south and east England.
Months seen: All year.
Food: Seeds, nuts and berries.
Habitat: Woods, coppices, hedgerows and gardens.
Special features: The Yellow-Necked Mouse is similar in appearance to the wood mouse but slightly larger,
and with a more reddish coloured fur on its back. The underside is white with a yellow collar which gives the mouse its name.
Yellow-necked mice sometimes enter houses in the autumn in search of food.
