Photo of the Month
January 2009

This hooded merganser was photographed in Dorset by Tony Adamcik. These
birds are normally found on the east and west coasts of America, and rarely here
in the UK (except in private collections). This particular 'hoodie' is the
one which was rescued from a storm drain on Chesil Beach, and later appeared on BBC's
Autumnwatch paddling around Radipole Lake with a bunch of mallards.
Tony used a Panasonic Lumix DMC-FZ50 camera (F5.6 @1/250).
